Army Ranger Trey B. is back for seconds with this .280 Remington build. Trey provided us with a used and very tired standard rifle, along with an abused McMillan Edge stock that had been inletted for a post-64 model 70. Also included in the parts sent to us was a nice Leupold VX-3 scope. Our work to finish the rifle included:
- Blueprinted the action
- Fitted a Douglas #3 barrel to the action and chambered in .280 Rem
- Finished the action and barrel in Cerakote heat-cured Socom Blue (H-245Q)
- Removed the old stock bedding and pillars
- Profiled the stock for the #3 contour
- Fitted the stock to the Obendorf bottom metal
- Pillar bedded and fitted the stock to the pre-64 action
- Refinished the stock in Cerakote heat-cured Cobalt Kinetic Green (H-296Q)
- Added black spider web effect top-coat to stock.
- Installed Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10x40mm scope in Leupold mounts
7 lbs 4 oz, before the scope.
