This early pre-war stock originates from a .300 H&H magnum rifle produced between 1936 and 1941. It will fit all .300 H&H rifles with a standard barrel contour that were produced between 1936 and 1948.
The specific features of a stock of this vintage are extra fine checkering of 20 lines per inch, and a 1" factory notch cut opposite the bolt handle, to accommodate a receiver sight.
This stock is in very good condition with no cracks, chips, gouges, deep scratches or other structural damage. However, it displays the wear and tear of 85 years of use. The finish appears original, with scratches, scuffs and areas of finish loss. The original checkering is worn almost smooth in some places.
The length of pull has been shortened, from the standard 13-5/8" to 13-1/8", and a Winchester-branded vented recoil pad has been installed. This is not the original pad for this stock; it would have come from the factory with a steel buttplate.
