This is a nice early .22 Hornet standard rifle produced in 1939 with serial number 20957. There are two filled holes on the left side of the receiver from a side-mount scope base, and there is a slight notch to the stock from the scope mount. The metal has been reblued.
The low-comb stock possibly has an original finish with some touch-up work, or it has an early refinish job. There are shallow dings and scratches but no cracks or splits. The butt plate has not been reblued. The checkering remains mostly well-defined with minor flattening but no major defects.
The rifle was previously reblued. The bluing is about is about 90%, with some edge wear and a few light blemishes.
The bore of the 24" CMS steel barrel has some throat wear and notable pitting, reducing the rating to a 6 out of 10. The bolt is serial number matched to the rifle and all original Hornet parts are present.
