This is a beautiful .22 Hornet standard rifle produced in 1949. The rifle retains the original factory bluing and stock finish with no added holes or other modifications. It is a high condition and collectible rifle, grading in NRA excellent condition.
The stock is low-comb style, showing a few very minor handling marks but no cracks, stains or other major defects. The original finish is in excellent condition with no flaking or other defects. The original checkering crisp and without wear or damage. The stock retains its original steal butt plate which shows almost no bluing loss. The walnut of the stock has a light discoloration on the right-hand side of the stock. This is a natural color variation within the wood and is not in the finish.
The factory bluing is nearly perfect at 98%, with only the slightest edge wear and a few light scratches to the bottom metal. The bolt is correct and serial number matched to the receiver.
The bore is in excellent condition with no real signs of use. There is no erosion, wear, heat damage, pitting, or other evidence the rifle has been fired. We grade it a 9 out of 10. Borescope verified.
This rifle came out of a collection in London, Ontario, Canada. We managed the import and the rifle has an extremely small and discrete import mark on the underside of the barrel, just forward of the stock tip (see photo). The import mark measures approximately .050" by .250" in size.
