This is a .22 Hornet standard rifle produced in 1950. The receiver and bolt are both marked with serial number 170296.

The low comb stock has an original finish and is in very good condition with some handling marks. There are no cracks or splits. The butt plate may have been reblued and is in very good condition. The checkering is clean and crisp with no notable flat spots.

The bluing rates about 95%, with no significant edge wear or blemishes. The trigger guard may have been re-blued. There are a few shallow scratches but no significant dings or other defects in the metal.

With almost no throat wear and only a few scattered pits, mostly near the muzzle, we rate the bore a 9 out of 10.
