This is a rare .220 Swift marksman target rifle produced in 1954. It presents in all factory-original configuration and finishes. It is a high-condition rifle grading in NRA excellent condition.
The stock on this rifle is checkered in the fishtail style which was available as a special-order option from Winchester. The checkering is vintage and superbly done, and the stock finish is original. All of this argues for the checkering being an original Winchester customization to the rifle. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to 100% validate this as original Winchester work.
The original bluing on the rifle is near perfect - grading at 98% with no edge wear or rubs and jut a few very slight handling marks. There are a few very slight freckles on the floorplate which is the only notable blemish in the metal finishes. The bore of the 26" stainless barrel is near perfect under the borescope, with absolutely no throat erosion, heat checking or visible rifling wear. The original Winchester (dimple style) scope blocks are present. The action has the correct "T" marked trigger and shows no notable wear. All parts are original and correct for the period and chambering. The bolt is correct and serial number matched to the receiver.
The stock is retains its factory finish in very good condition with just a few light handling marks and a small water stain at the buttplate. The stock has not been shortened, bedded or otherwise modified and retains its original steel buttplate. All correct target swivels and hand stop are present.
