Jasper Salerno was a master engraver in the Winchester custom shop during the 1960s and 1970s and continued his work after retiring from Winchester. This engraved and J. Salerno signed 1961 .220 Swift varmint rifle has been authenticated by Pauline Muerrle who worked with Jasper as a fellow Winchester engraver. The push engraving is in a classic Winchester pattern featuring gold inlay with lynx, pronghorn and coyote reliefs. Perfect for the heavy barrel Swift.
This rifle features several unique features, including:
- Extensive engraving of the receiver, bolt, barrel, bottom metal, grip cap, buttplate, swivel bases and all screws.
- Gold inlay for all animals and also design accents.
- A Super Grade shaped stock in the post-1954 style with Monte Carlo comb and full fashion cheek rest. The stock is made from a superior French Walnut blank with extensive figure in the butt. The stock is hand checkered with standard rifle pattern panels rather than the Super Grade panels.
The rifle is in near-perfect condition with only one notable blemish on the underside of the barrel crown.
NOTE: This rifle must be shipped to an FFL or C&R holder who can complete the transfer. If needed, we are happy to assist you in locating an FFL holder near you who receive and transfer the rifle to you.
