This .243 varmint rifle was produced in 1961. It is a high-condition rifle in original factory finishes and configuration. It grades in NRA very good to excellent condition with no notable wear and only a few very slight handling marks.
Other than the exceptions noted below, the condition is as follows: The stock retains its factory finish in excellent condition and the factory buttplate is intact. There are no cracks or stains in the wood and the checkering is crisp and unblemished. The original bluing is intact and perfect. This rifle has the polish-blued finish on the stainless barrel. Sometimes called "smokey" blue, this was an experimental bluing process for stainless barrels, which Winchester used for a short period of time. The bore of the heavy varmint profile barrel is bright with strong rifling and no evident throat wear or other problems.
Condition exceptions:
There is are a couple stock finish scratches on the left side of the comb. These are through the finish, but not into the wood.
There is a small area of the stock finish on the right side above the floor plate which appears to be a finish repair. The finish in this area is smoother and slightly lighter than the balance of the stock finish.
The forward scope block has some small nicks in it where the scope ring was tightened into the block.
The smokey blue finish on the barrel has some inconsistencies in color. These inconsistencies are not the result of rubs or other damage to the bluing, but are commonly seen on barrels with this finish
All parts appear to be original to this rifle, including the bolt which is serial number matched to the receiver.
