This highly collectible rifle is chambered in the very rare .250-3000 Savage. Winchester made only 2,750 Model 70 rifles chambered in 250-3000, accounting for slightly less than 0.5% of total production.  The Pre64win.com team has conducted a thorough forensic analysis of this rifle and found it to be an authentic Winchester factory rifle.

The receiver and bolt are serial number marked 115102, indicating a manufacture date in 1949.  The rifle retains all original factory parts and finishes with no modifications.

The factory stock presents in excellent condition with no cracks or stains, gouges, or other major damage.  The original finish has only light handling marks, and the checkering remains clean and mostly sharp with no blemishes. The steel buttplate carries some bluing wear and dings and discoloration/freckling.

The factory bluing grades at 95% overall with very light wear.  There is mild wear to receiver rails and some of the bolt components, but the bolt knob remains dark and even.  The underside of the barrel has a few light scuffs and a small patch of freckling.  The muzzle has one very tiny ding, and the sight hood has a few light scratches.  The factory 22G spring rear sight and 1A elevator remain in excellent condition. The bottom metal is virtually perfect with no scratches, edgewear or damage whatsoever.

The barrel rates a 9 out of 10 with borescope inspection, with very minor pitting (very shallow) throughout the length of the bore and almost no throat wear.
