This is a .257 Roberts Standard rifle built in 1954. The bolt and receiver are both marked with serial number 302739. The rifle rates in NRA very good to excellent condition.
The Monte Carlo stock retains the original finish with handling marks and honest wear. There are scratches, scuffs and small dents but no cracks, chips, repairs or structural damage. The finish appears slight overcoating in some areas, and there is one discolored spot at the top of the comb. The checkering remains in very good condition aside from one notable dent in one checkering panel. Please see photos. The factory steel buttplate has no damage but moderate bluing loss.
The bluing rates at 95%, with some minor wear on the bolt components, muzzle and sight hood. The are no notable scratches, dings, or other metal damage or repairs. The bottom metal remains dark and even without significant scratches or blemishes. Overall, the metal is in excellent condition.
The bore of the 24" barrel contains absolutely no pitting, and only the slightest bit of throat wear. There are some small gouges just inside the muzzle, likely from improper usage of a cleaning rod, which reduces the otherwise excellent rating to an 8 out of 10. Borescope verified.
