This is a beautiful 1952 Super Grade rifle chambered in .257 Roberts. This rifle is a full restoration of a 100% original, but very rough Super Grade rifle. The restoration work was done in our shop and the finished rifle is stunning, now presenting in like-new condition.
The restoration work included:
- Complete re-polish of all metal to match factory metal finishes
- Complete rebluing of all metal parts
- Installation of a replacement Winchester solid red recoil pad
- Complete restoration of the stock, including repair of grip chip
The finished rifle is superb with finishes that closely replicate the factory finish.
Based on our examination, we have concluded this rifle was a factory super grade rifle which was heavily used, but never modified in any way, other than the recoil pad. All parts are correct for the year of build, including the correct Redfield gold sheared #255 sight under the sight hood and the correct Group IV action parts. The bolt is serial number matched to the receiver.
The bore of the 24" barrel is outstanding with no evident wear, pits, erosion or other damage. The action is in perfect condition with no functional issue. After 70 years of use, misuse and abuse, this rifle is back in factory-new condition and ready for its next 70 years.
