This custom rifle, based on a 1947 model 70 action, is built into a 27 Nosler. Aside from the re-barreling, this rifle has also been customized with the addition of post-64 Super Grade style sling swivels bases, a 3-leaf folding rear sight, and a banded front sight. Included with the rifle are two boxes of Nosler factory ammunition. Reloading dies, additional ammunition, and unfired brass is also available.
The metal has been refinished and has some wear. The bolt handle has been polished (now in the white) and the bolt body, extractor, and extractor ring have been jeweled in a fine pattern. There is some wear in the jeweling. There is virtually no notable edgewear or fading on the barrel.
The bore of the 26" custom Bartlein barrel is near perfect. There is no wear in the throat; there are a very few, very small spots of freckling. We rate it as a 9 out of 10. Borescope verified.
The refinished low comb stock is period-correct for the rifle but has been modified with the addition of Post-64 Super Grade sling swivels bases. These bases are designed for use with modern "Uncle Mikes" style swivels. The recoil lug has been bedded, along with the first few inches of the barrel. The bedding fills the cut out in the stock for the rear sight barrel "knot". The stock had been notched for the addition of a receiver sight; this notch has been filled. Additionally, there was a small chip in the tang that has been repaired. The finish is in excellent condition with a few very minor handling marks. The stock has no other notable cracks, dents, gouges or other damage. The checkering is crisp with no major blemishes.
Included are two boxes of Nosler Trophy Grade ammunition; one each of 150 grain AccuBond (20 rounds) and 165 grain AccuBond Long-Range (19 rounds, missing one).
