This is a "transition era" model 70 rifle chambered in .270 Winchester. It has the cloverleaf tang of the pre-war models combined with the smooth, drilled rear receiver of the later models. The receiver and bolt are both marked with serial number 99493, indicating a 1948 manufacture date. This rifle grades in NRA excellent condition (refinished stock).
The stock was refinished by the Pre64 team, including the steel buttplate and sling swivels. The checkering on this rifle is clean, crisp, and unmarred.
The metal finishes and parts appear to be original and are in excellent condition. There is some minor finish wear on the bolt components, a few shallow scratches in the finish, and some minor discoloration on the bolt body.
This barrel has no wear but a few shallow pits. It rates a 9 out of 10. Borescope verified.
