This "transition era" model 70 rifle is chambered in .30-06. The receiver and bolt are both marked with serial number 67535, indicating a 1947 manufacture date. Overall, this rifle appears to have been used very little, but it sustained some wear from handling and storage. This rifle grades in NRA very good condition.
The stock shows light wear in the form of light scratches and scuffs and shallow dings. There a small repair on the forarm, see pictures. The checkering on this rifle is clean, crisp, and unmarred. The stock is unmodified except for a notch to allow for the installation of a Lyman receiver sight. It retains its original finish and steel buttplate.
The metal finishes and parts appear to be original and in excellent condition with no notable scratches, wear, freckling or other damage. The rear sight was removed and replaced with blank.
This barrel shows almost no wear but has shallow pitting throughout the length of the bore. It rates a 7 out of 10. Borescope verified.
