This rifle was a Pre64 custom build, completely refinished and refurbished, from a 1955 receiver and a 1953 barrel. Unfortunately, even after a very successful trip to the range, the client decided he really preferred the handling of a Featherweight rifle instead of this standard rifle. Now it's back in our hands and ready for its new home. Overall, it is in like new, refinished condition. This rifle received some special treatment during the build; some extra lathe time during the barrel installation, a Timney trigger, and removal of the forearm screw (and installation of a dummy screw to maintain appearances). Apparently, these extra steps were worth the time as the client reported sub-1" groups with Hornady 180 grain factory ammo.
The refinished Monte Carlo stock is in near perfect condition with only one small ding on the butt. A black Decelerator pad has been installed. The original checkering on this rifle is clean, crisp, and unmarred. The Length of Pull is slightly longer than normal at 14".
The metal finishes and parts are in near perfect condition. There is some wear on the extractor ring, unfortunately just cycle the bolt a few times can cause that, but no other notable scratches, wear, freckling or other damage.
The 24"standard weight barrel was hand-picked for its bore condition, which is perfect except for slight freckling inside the muzzle. It rates a 9 out of 10. Borescope verified.
