This is a 1954 Model 70 Standard rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The receiver and bolt are marked with matching serial number 321829, indicating a 1954 manufacture date.
The original metal finishes are generally dark and even but have some wear and fading, especially on the bolt components and the bottom metal.
The bore of the 24" barrel has no throat wear but has some shallow pitting - enough to reduce the rating to an 8 out of 10. Borescope evaluated.
The Monte Carlo stock retains its factory finish, but may have been overcoated. It has some honest handling wear; there are scattered scratches, dings and scuffs to the wood but no cracks, splits, repairs or structural damage. The original butt plate has been replaced with a black Decelerator recoil pad. The checkering is remarkably clean and sharp and has likely been recut.
