This is an all original and very clean .30-06 standard rifle made in 1947. With serial number 62968, this is a very early transition rifle, among the first produced following the war. The rifle shows very little evidence of use in all original finishes and no modifications. Overall condition for this rifle grades at NRA excellent.
The metal finishes are excellent overall, with bluing grading at 98%+. There is minor edge wear at the muzzle and sight hood, and a slight mark on the side of the receiver from a prior sight or scope mount. There are a couple very minor scratches in the barrel bluing, but no rubs, gouges or other noteworthy blemishes. The bottom metal shows almost no wear. The action and bore are in excellent condition and grade as NRA excellent. The bolt is correct to the action, with serial number present and matched to the receiver. The rear sight is the correct Winchester 22G, with the correct 3C elevator. The stock is excellent with just a few very light handling marks, but no noteworthy blemishes. The checkering remains perfect. The factory steel buttplate is present with slight patina. The original swivels are present.
