This is a Winchester model 70 rifle is chambered in .30-06. The receiver and bolt are both marked with 57387, indicating a 1946 manufacture date. The receiver features the "pre-war" cloverleaf tang, stripper clip slot and textured rear bridge. There is an extra hole drilled and tapped in the rear bridge for a scope mount. A small compass has been added to the comb of the stock (this can be removed and the hole filled with a blended plug).
The stock appears to have been refinished at some point in the past. It has some honest wear but no repairs, cracks, splits or other notable damage. The checkering is original, un-recut, and has a few flat spots. The original steel buttplate has finish wear and flat spots.
The metal finishes and parts are in very good condition with no notable damage. The body shaft has been polished and now has a slight wavey appearance.
This bore is in very good condition with virtually no erosion but has a few scattered pits, resulting in 9 out of 10 rating. Borescope verified.
