This is a beautiful 1939 Model 70 rifle chambered in .30 Gov't '06. The receiver and bolt are marked with serial number 19224. The receiver rear bidge has been drilled with a single hole for a scope mount and the floorplate and trigger guard have been reblued.
The factory bluing on the barrel and receiver presents in excellent condition, rating 90%, but with some shallow freckling on the barrel - see photos. The bluing has almost no edgewear, thinning or scratches. The bolt knob remains dark and smooth.
The bore of this rifle is in very good condition, with no throat erosion or heat cracking. There is enough pitting to rate a 9 out of 10 with borescope inspection.
The low-comb stock has been previously refinished and has minor handling marks in the finish and overall remains in excellent condition. There are no cracks, chips, dents, splits, oil stains or past repairs. The checkering remains in excellent condition. The factory steel butt plate has bluing loss and shallow pitting.
