This transition era model 70 Super Grade rifle is chambered in .30-06. The receiver and bolt are both marked with serial number 74962, indicating a 1947 manufacture date. This rifle has been refinished and is NRA excellent (refinished) condition.
The refinished low-comb stock shows no wear. There are two very small dings on the right side of the forend, a small dark spot next to the bolt handle, and a barely visible repair to a divot caused by a receiver sight. The checkering on this rifle is clean, crisp, and unmarred. The stock is fitted with a reproduction recoil pad.
The metal finishes and parts have been re-blued. There is a line of freckling on the receiver just below the stock line, this is not visible when the rifle is assembled. The freckling occurred before the rifle was refinished and it has been re-blued. There are no other notable scratches, wear, freckling or other damage. The rear sight was removed and replaced with a blank.
This barrel is in near perfect condition, rating a 9 out of 10. Borescope verified.
