This is a 1941 Super Grade rifle chambered in .300 H&H Magnum. The rifle retains its original factory finishes and configuration with no modifications. It grades in NRA excellent condition with a few minor exceptions noted in the description below.
The original bluing is intact and grades at better than 90%. Most of the rifle grades better than 95%. The receiver bluing is nearly perfect with no noted bluing loss or blemishes. The bolt handle has light bluing loss from light use. The buttplate and bottom metal are excellent with no notable blemishes. There are two areas of bluing loss on the right side of the barrel where it looks like an abrasive was used to rub out some light freckling. There is no pitting of the metal noted, but the bluing loss on the barrel is noteworthy. The muzzle bluing shows some normal wear and there are a few minor scratches in the bluing around the front sight ramp. There is a single hole in the receiver bridge which is correctly spaced for a Redfield JR mount.
The stock is a very nice piece of straight grain American walnut and retains its original finish in excellent condition. It has no blemishes, cracks, stains or other notable problems. The checkering is original and crisp. The stock has never been bedded. The stock has not been shortened and retains its original steel buttplate.
The correct 22G rear sight and Redfield sheared gold front sight are present. All action parts are correct and the bolt is serial number matched to the action. The bore of the 26 inch CMS barrel is in great condition. Borescope inspection revealed little evidence of use, no erosion or heat damage, and just a handful of very tiny pits which should not affect performance. This rifle should be a good shooter.
