The Lyman 48 WJS was delivered on standard rifles from the factory, when the rifle was ordered with a receiver sight (the Lyman 48 WH was delivered on marksman, national match and bull rifles).
This is a late style sight (post-1947) with a base sculpted to fit over the stock, without requiring stock inletting. This sight has the smaller "hunter" turrets, a long 105-point scale, and micrometer adjustments. Although this sight appears to be new old stock in the original box, the base and slide are not number matched. They are numbered B78 and B88. The aperture and mounting screws are included. The sight is in perfect, like-new condition.
