This is a standard receiver from a 1942 Model 70 rifle, stamped with the serial number 42509. This receiver has been drilled with three holes along the left side for mounting a side-mounted scope base. Most of the bluing is dark and even, but with light wear in the tang and on the rails, wear from the scope base, and some scratches, mostly under the stock line.
