We agree with Timney - "A fine rifle is only as good as its trigger". And as model 70 enthusiasts already know, the factory pre-64 model 70 trigger is truly an excellent trigger. A skilled gunsmith can tune the pull weight and travel with great precision - far better than most factory triggers.

There are cases, however, when it makes sense to upgrade from the factory trigger: If you are looking for a pull weight under 2 lbs., or if you need the ability to make easy/frequent adjustments to your trigger, then upgrading from the factory trigger is highly recommended. This is especially true if you like to operate with a very light pull weight, as the factory trigger is prone to slam-firing at light pull weights. 

The Timney Model 401 Featherweight Trigger is made in America.  It is precision machined and hand-fitted to provide a crisp trigger pull. It features a lightweight alloy housing with machined and hardened steel working surfaces. The trigger is fully adjustable. The pull weight is easily adjusted from 1 lb to 4.5 lbs, and is also adjustable for creep and overtravel. The trigger is simple to install and requires no modification to any part of the action.
